I am actually rebuilding from the base. Like my mother who loves to redecorate her house regularly, I do the same in my classroom. This time, I am doing more than redecorating. After one year with Colossus, I have learned that I need to revamp everything. To cover the mandated readings and tests, yet still maintain a classroom where reading and writing are valued and present, I need to rethink every detail. From my plan book to restroom passes, bring on the dump trucks!
I still love to write my lessons in a plan book of some sort, but I found myself constantly redoing plans and making notes with post-its of my changes. My teenage daughter introduced me to Pinterest, and I am addicted! Although, it seems most of the teaching ideas on Pinterest are more elementary, I have found some great ideas I can easily adapt. The first and best is a post-it plan book---can you believe that?! What a super idea for a constant reviser like me. Below is a picture of the book and a link to the young lady's blog who is responsible for this neat idea. She does a super job of explaining how she created it, and she even provides pictures of each step.
